Park, UL, Shadyside, and Madonna Girls Back in OVAC Finals

The Wheeling Park girls advanced to the newly formed OVAC 5A basketball championship game with a 63-55 victory over John Marshall in a semifinal match-up. Emily Puskarich led Park with 29 points.  Park will face Morgantown in Saturday night's 5A final, the Mohigans defeated University 60-56, behind 16 points from junior Emily Sabatino, and 15 points from classmate Leah Taylor.

In 4A, No.1 seed Edison defeated Oak Glen 52-37.  The Lady Wildcats will take on No.2 Union Local, who cruised past Harrison Central 55-33. Cori Medley led the Jets with 22 points.

In 3A, top seed Martins Ferry was knocked off by Monroe Central 58-53, behind Chelsie Tewanger's 18 points. The Riders once again played without star Jessica Kinney, who is still out with a concussion.  Monroe Central will take on Fort Frye in Saturday's final, following the Lady Cadets 36-22 win over Shenandoah.

The 2A title game will feature No.1 seed Shadyside and No.2 Wheeling Central. The LTs crushed Linsly 78-38, behind Hayley Holenka's 19 points.  Wheeling Central rallied from a halftime deficit to eliminate River 48-41. Colleen McCormick scored 22 points for Wheeling Central.

And in Class A, No.1 and unbeaten Morgantown Trinity, knocked off Conotton Valley 57-48 behind Tera Nelly's 23 points.  Trinity will take on Weirton Madonna in Saturday's final, after the Lady Blue Dons outlasted Beallsville 55-48.
