Wheeling native Doug Wojcik is now the University of Tulsa's all-time wins leader.
The seventh-year head coach chalked up career win No.138 on Saturday night as the Golden Hurricance avenged an earlier loss to Houston with a 24-point win. Wojcik passed the legendary Clarence Iba on the school's all-time wins list.
Wojcik waived to the crowd, during a standing ovation, after the game. He celebrated with his team on the court with an impromptu dance.
Tulsa (15-10 overall, 8-3 in Conference USA) kept pace with Southern Miss and Memphis. Those schools share first place with 8-2 league marks. Tulsa is alone in third place, a half-game ahead of UCF.
Wojcik is a Wheeling Central Catholic High School graduate and played for the late Skip Prosser in high school.
Wojcik was also an assistant coach at Notre Dame, North Carolina and Michigan State, before his move to Tulsa.
