Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum is coming to Steubenville, giving the city a chance to be put on the map yet again, just two weeks after Ohio Governor John Kasich gave his historic state of the state address in Steubenville for the first time.

The man that made this all possible, Michael Hernon, a member of the Republican Executive Committee in Jefferson County didn't think Santorum's visit would come true.

Santorum is scheduled to be at Froehlich's Classic Corner at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Hernon is the organizer behind Santorum's appearance.  He feels the former Pennsylvania senator is a perfect fit for the city's citizens since he comes from blue collar roots.  His father and grandfather, were both coalminers.

"With education, family values, where to take the government, there's enough insight from him as a leader in Washington, but enough as an outsider to get things done," Hernon said.

Hernon said it was not difficult getting Santorum to come to Steubenville, especially since Gov. Kasich was here two weeks ago.

While presidential candidates have been to Steubenville before, Rick Santorum will get the chance to see first-hand why it is so crucial for the city to get jobs.

Greg Froehlich has had his business in Steubenville for over six years.  He said the city is suffering.

"I think it would be a strong realization to address that and I hope that he does and is interested in ideas and polices for that will be," Froehlich said.

"I hope people can give him a warm welcome and let him know that Steubenville is alive and well," Hernon said.  "We need help.  It's more than just government spending.  We need reform in Washington."

While Steubenville is primarily democratic, Santorum's visit will give him the opportunity to push bipartisanship out the window, and focus on democrats, republicans and independents as a whole.

This is a free event.  However, it is first come, first serve.
