Super sophomore Anthony Wallace poured in an OVAC Class 3A championship game record 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds leading the Linsly Cadets to a 70-65, upset win over No.1 seed River, in the Wheeling Hospital OVAC boys basketball championships at Ohio University Eastern.
Wallace also sealed the deal, coming up with the game-saving steal, with under :10 left in the fourth quarter.
Linsly freshman Jibri Blount, the son of former NFL Hall of Famer Mel Blount, added a career-high 16 points, as the youthful Cadets won the school's first OVAC title under the new format, and first since head coach James Wallace wore a Cadets uniform in 2002.
River's was making its first trip to the OVAC finals and was led by Brett Price, who drained 5 three-pointers and ended up with 21 points. Jordan Indermuhle added 17 points and 14 boards for the Pilots, who dip to 14-6 on the season.
Linsly is now 13-8.
