The No.1 seed Weirton Madonna boys turned up the tempo and blew out the No.2 seed Beallsville Blue Devils 84-64 in the Class A title game at the Wheeling Hospital OVAC boys basketball championships at Ohio University Eastern.
The victory gives Madonna back-to-back small school championships.
The Blue Dons had five double-digit scorers, paced by sophomore Ross Comis with 21 points. 6-6 senior Drazen Frankovitch added 20 points, classmate Clay Rokisky contributed 14 points, senior point guard Nick Battista scored 13, and senior forward Daniel Pietranton pumped in 11 points off the bench.
Junior guard Teryn Jarrett led Beallsville with 13 points.
Madonna improves to 18-3 on the season, and avenges a bad regular-season loss to Beallsville.
The Blue Devils lost for just the second time this season (18-2).
