
Courtesy of www.rollredroll.comSteubenville Big Red Head Coach Reno Saccoccia and Monroe Central's Jay Circosta were honored on Sunday by the Ohio Valley Football Coaches Association (OVFCA) for becoming the Ohio Valley's only coaches to win 300 games.
The longtime coaches were recognized and given plaques at the OVFCA's annual banquet held at Garfield Elementary School in Steubenville. Circosta, 67, has exactly 300 wins and is also a member of the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association hall of Fame, as well as the West Liberty Athletic Hall of Fame, where he played football and baseball. Saccoccia, 62, owns 302 career wins and is also in the OHSFCA Hall of Fame.
Wheeling Central Catholic Head Coach Mike Young was also recognized for winning the West Virginia Class A state championship last season. It was Young's fifth Class A state championship in his seven years as head coach at his alma mater.
Other area coaches and football players were at the banquet, and recognized for accomplishments in the 2011 season.
Former Cambridge High School Head Coach Rick Goodrich, who was recently hired as the new head coach at John Marshall High School, was also honored for winning his 100th career game last season. Goodrich spent the past 13 seasons at Cambridge, where he went after leaving Bridgeport High School.
