Akron, Ohio -

Residential customers of AEP Ohio can still sign up with Ohio-based FirstEnergy Solutions to lock in the lowest fixed price on electric generation currently available in this utility's service area. Residents who enroll will receive a fixed price of 6.69 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) on electric generation through March 2014. Over the 24-month term of the contract, an average residential customer using 1,000 kWh a month could save up to $230 over the enrollment period.

Customers can determine how much they can save each month through this offer by comparing 6.69 cents per kWh to their Price to Compare, which is located in the message section of their monthly electric bill. The Price to Compare is the amount customers are charged when they purchase electric generation from AEP Ohio.

"We are big proponents of electric choice in Ohio, which is why we encourage residents in AEP Ohio's service area to compare their current generation rate to our low fixed price – and see how much they can save simply by signing up right now with FirstEnergy Solutions," said Julie Hextell, senior vice president of Retail Sales & Marketing for FirstEnergy Solutions. "And customers can save even more by signing up at www.fessave.com/aep and getting our special online price of 6.60 cents per kWh."

Residents who choose FirstEnergy Solutions as their electric generation supplier will continue to receive one bill and the same level of service from AEP Ohio. The utility will continue to deliver the electricity, maintain the poles and wires, and respond to power outages.

Residential customers interested in learning more about the FirstEnergy Solutions offer should contact the company at 1-877-286-3054
