Cash-strapped fire departments across the state are getting a boost from the West Virginia Beer Wholesaler's Association.
A big, ceremonial check handed over *today... represented more than 15-thousand dollars given to the state Firemen's Association.
The money will be used for training that often gets neglected in small departments that are fighting just to stay open.
Jim Oldaker of the W.Va. Firemen's Association told WTRF.com, "many departments are barely able to meet their bills, keep their lights and the heat on in the station and keep tires on the trucks. And a lot of times, unfortunately, training costs and training opportunities have to be left setting in lieu of making this month's gas bill or workers' comp payment or insurance payments."
The money came from a statewide fundraising event held last year.
