Wheeling Jesuit Earns Baseball Player of the Week and Softball Pitcher of the Week

PRINCETON, W.Va -

Wheeling Jesuit's Robbie Davia has been named the WVIAC Player of the Week while Bluefield State hurler Robert Haggerty has been named the WVIAC Pitcher of the Week.

Davia, a 6'2" junior from Cadiz, Ohio, went four-for-six in a sweep of the No. 5 team in last week's NCBWA Atlantic Regiontop 10. In the victories over Slippery Rock, Davia went two-for-three in each contest, helping the Cardinals prevail by scores of 3-2 and 10-3 to improve to2-0 on the season.

 

Wheeling Jesuit's Erika Jusko has been named the WVIAC Player of the Week while Charleston's Emily Fultz has been named the WVIAC Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office.

Jusko, a 5'8" sophomore pitcher/infielder from Euclid, Ohio,went six-of-nine at the plate in the doubleheader sweep of Virginia Union. She scored four runs and had four RBI. Three of her six hits went for extra bases.She had a double and two triples. For good measure, she tossed four innings of work in relief in the second game and struck out nine to pick up the win.

Fultz, a 5'10" rookie from Germantown, Ohio,earned her second accolade on the young season. She worked 6.1 innings in a 3-1victory over UVA-Wise. She allowed just five hits while striking out eight batters. For the season, Fultz improves to 3-0 with a 0.44 ERA to go along with31 strikeouts.
