CADIZ, Ohio -

The Clark Gable Foundation launches The Clark Gable Legacy campaign on Kickstarter.com to create a life-size bronze sculpture of "The King of Hollywood" seated on a bench. The sculpture is designed to welcome visitors to his birthplace, now the home of the Clark Gable Foundation and museum.


"I've been a Clark Gable fan all my life, and Gone With The Wind is my favorite film." said sculptor Lou Cella. "The interactive sculpture gives visitors a place to sit on a bench and have their picture taken next to Clark."


The Clark Gable Legacy sculpture campaign is live on Kickstarter.com at http://kck.st/wT8SWT. Kickstarter.com is a grassroots online organization offering a place to gather funds for various creative projects. If enough funds are not raised by the deadline, then the donated funds are returned to all the donors. The campaign ends on March 30.

 "This is an all or nothing way to raise funds for a design we hope can come to life," said Nan Mattern. "We feel grateful for Kickstarter as the medium to raise the funds and thrilled to have a sculptor like Lou Cella to work on this project. A sculpture of Clark Gable created by Lou Cella is sure to draw more tourists to Cadiz, Ohio."

The Clark Gable Foundation was established in 1985 with the interest in helping to revitalize the local economy.  In 1998, the foundation opened the rebuilt birthplace home of Clark Gable with a museum that includes everything from a pair of his pajamas to a Cadillac he once owned.www.clarkgablefoundation.com.

Lou Cella is a sculptor at the The Rotblatt/Amrany Fine Art Studio in Highwood, Illinois.  Lou studied both fine art and graphic design at Illinois State University.  His artwork is focused on portrait sculpture and variations on the human form.  Lou's works range from extreme realism to existential creations.  Recent works include Dave Niehaus for the Seattle Mariners, Ron Santo for the Chicago Cubs, Frank Thomas for the Chicago White Sox.
