CHARLESTON -
The House of Delegates has voted to have West Virginia join 48 other states to combat human trafficking.
The bill which is in the senate, takes aim at efforts to abuse, threaten or coerce people into such things as forced labor and child prostitution. If it's approved the law would make it a felony to take someone's passport or other identification document for the purposes of human trafficking. Tuesday's bill also revises the state's law against kidnapping.
It calls on the governor's crime committee to develop standards for training law enforcement so they can investigate human trafficking.
