Wheeling Police Chief Robert Matheny is moving on.

Matheny, who has served as the city's top officer since 2009, brought honor to the uniform.

He did what good police officers do – he reached out to the community and asked what his department could do for them.

Making our neighborhoods safer is an ongoing battle and Wheeling, and all of the Ohio Valley, should say thank you to Matheny and wish him luck in his future endeavors.
