Alleged Bank Robbing Brothers Taken Into Custody After Standoff

Posted: Updated:

Imagine waking up to see SWAT team members running through your front yard.

On Thursday morning in Boardman, Ohio it looked more like a Hollywood movie than real life.

It started after Boardman police were given a heads up that two men wanted for robbing the PNC Bank in Colerain were staying there.

Sure enough the tip paid off and officers found brothers Brock and Chad Rennicker held up and unwilling to surrender.

A strong show of force paid off and after several hours both gave up without a fight.

Capt. Don Lamping of the Boardman Police Department said, "we got a tip from Belmont County that these men were hiding out here. After following up on some leads we discovered where they were hiding and did what we could to safely bring them into custody."

The Rennicker's had been hiding out inside the home of Elizabeth Soich, a girlfriend of one of the men.

All three suspects were taken to the Mahoning County Jail where they'll await extradition back to Belmont County.

In addition to the Rennicker's robbery charges, we're told all three will now face obstructing justice after this morning's standoff.
