Wheeling Man Sentenced After Interstate Chase

On Monday Wheeling native Curtis Smelley has been sentenced to 34 months in jail followed by two years of supervised release by Judge Frederick Stamp Jr.

Smelley had pled guilty to interstate domestic violence after admitting he tried to run into his ex-girlfriend's car during a chase that began in West Virginia and ended in Ohio.

Smelley remains in the custody of the United States Marshal's pending designation to a federal prison.

Wheeling Police originally investigated the case and the prosecution was handled by U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld II.
