As the power is slowly restored throughout the area, there are certain safety precautions that you will need to take..
Here are some tips from AEP Ohio:
Unplug major appliances to protect them from a power surge when power comes back on. This includes your TV, your stereo, cable boxes and computers.
Make sure your heating and air conditioning systems are turned off.
Leave a light turned on so you know when power is restored.
AEP Ohio Manager Phil Lewis also warns you to stay away from downed lines. He says they could be energized, and create a hazard to anyone around them.
Lewis expects power to be mostly restored in Belmont County by Wednesday night, and the Wheeling area by Friday.
