Relief efforts by the American Red Cross continue into its second week to provide food, water and shelter to those affected by power outages in West Virginia.
The American Red Cross reports it has served more than 14,600 meals and provided more than 1,300 overnight stays. The population in American Red Cross shelters Saturday night was 85.
Mental health workers are visiting the shelters and going door to door in some cases to help calm fears and reduce anxiety.
In addition to its shelters, the American Red Cross has 15 Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) delivering food and water to residents in need.
According to a news release nearly 200 workers from around the country are assisting the Red Cross with relief efforts state-wide.
