Firefighters Respond to 2 Blasts in Mason County - WTRF 7 News Sports Weather - Wheeling Steubenville

Point Pleasant's fire chief says separate explosions at a munitions bunker and at a parked tractor loaded with ammunition were either deliberately set or caused by extreme heat.

Jeremy Bryant, chief of the Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, said those are the only possible explanations for Saturday's blasts. He says the state fire marshal's office will determine the cause.

Nobody was hurt in either explosion.

Bryant said the first incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. at the munitions bunker near the Mason County fairgrounds. Firefighters were still on the scene when they got the call about the second explosion a few miles away.

Richard King owns the bunker and the tractor-trailer, which was parked at his home. He declined to discuss the incidents Sunday when contacted by The Associated Press.
