According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, prosecutors are reviewing a claim that Bishop Michael
J. Bransfield fondled a Lansdale Catholic High School
student in the 1970s, according to interviews and court records.
The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston has released a statement regarding the Philadelphia Inquirer's report stating that they believe the story is "old news."
Bishop Bransfield released a statement through his spokesman when the allegations were first made earlier this year proclaiming his innocence.
According the statement, the published story reveals no new allegations and the Bishop will stand by his response made earlier this year.
