Weirton Medical Center said they are offering new customer knee replacement technology.
Here's how it works. A new 3D imaging software package provides exact dimensions of a patient's knee for what the hospital describes as a perfect fit.
In a news release, it states the Triathlon System is designed to provide patients more natural motion and the potential for greater implant longevity.
The hospital refers to this new technology as the future direction of total joint replacement.
Dr. Gurdev Purewal, an orthopedic surgeon at Weirton Medical Center said, ''After the patient has had a CT scan, we send the results to Stryker and the company will produce a precise mold of the patient's knee for an accurate fit.''
