Former Taylor, Smith, and Taylor Pottery plant in Chester, have been awarded a $200,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to clean up their brownfields site.
The EPA says ceramic items were manufactured at the former Pottery site from 1900 until 1982.
The facility is being demolished and the property developed for other business purposes, but it's polluted with metals and other contaminants.
The brownfields cleanup grant was awarded to the Business Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle.
