West Virginia Lottery Surprises with $81M Surplus

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -

West Virginia is getting a big boost from lottery sales. 

The state lottery ended the year with an $81 million surplus.

Lottery officials had forecast a 5 percent drop during the fiscal year, but sales topped $1.4 billion for the year, which is 9 percent more than expected.
