Major disaster declaration is being requested by West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin to help with recovery in the recent summer storms.
There are 40 counties needing assistance according to tomblin's office.
Tomblin is also asking for hazard mitigation funds be available for all 55 counties.
The funding will help provide infrastructure repair. The storm left 680 thousand customers in West Virginia without power, some for more than a week.
