The state Broadband Deployment Council is preparing to hand out more than $3 million in grants for high-speed Internet projects across the state.
Grant recipients will use the funding to expand broadband infrastructure in rural areas.
The council plans to begin accepting applications for projects next week. Grants will be awarded in November.
The Associated Press reports that council member Lee Fisher discussed the grants Tuesday with representatives of the 11 regional and planning development councils in the state. The regional councils will help businesses and nonprofits apply for the grants.
