Belmont County Commissioner Matt D. Coffland and his son, Matt B. Coffland, are both facing criminal charges.
The charges reportedly stem from their alleged behavior during an investigation of their business, The Tiger Pub, in Shadyside, by liquor control agents.
They are each charged with one count of knowingly hindering or obstructing a liquor control agent, one count of knowingly hindering the discovery of a crime, and one count of knowingly obstructing the performance of a public official.
Because the elder Coffland is a county commissioner, the case is being prosecuted by Special Prosecutor Tom Hampton, and a Monroe County judge will preside over it in Belmont County.
Calls to Coffland have not yet been returned.
