Ohio Valley Medical Center will be opening a new 16-bed oncology care unit as part of an expansion of cancer services offered at the hospital.
According to a news release the unit is located on third floor of the hospital's West Building. The unit will provide additional privacy and comfort for patients and their families during treatment and hospital stays.
Nurse manager, Scot Malson says hospital staff are thrilled to provide a comfortable surrounding to patients.
"Our patients choose to receive oncology care and treatment from our physicians and staff for a reason, and we are thrilled to be able to provide a warm place where our patients can relax and focus on healing," he said. "We hope our patients find comfort to be close to their family while coping with a difficult diagnosis."
The hospital will also be opening a 24/7 Outpatient Infusion Center, able to accommodate patients receiving chemotherapy, antibiotics and blood transfusions. The center is scheduled to open later this summer.
