A 28 year-old man is lucky to be alive after officers pulled him out of the Ohio River. He was just feet away from a Hyrdo-Dam turbine underneath the water.
It happened on Saturday near the Hannibal Locks and Dam in Wetzel County.
According to New Martinsville Police Chief, Tim Cecil, officers received a call that a man in the river was being bashed off a wall, and was dangerously close to being sucked under.
When officers arrived, David McLean was struggling to stay afloat. However, when officers tried to get the Texas man into their boat, he refused and fought back.
The turbines were shut down and McLean was safely rescued.
Because he chose to fight the officers that were trying to save him, McLean is now facing charges of disobeying a lawful order and fleeing an officer. He remains behind bars in the Northern Regional Jail.
