Over 1,000 RG Steel employees are receiving federal job and health care help.
Senator Sherrod Brown announced Tuesday that workers can receive benefits through the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program.
The Trade Adjustment Assistance will help employees transition to new jobs by getting employees the training needed.
The program will also help employees to purchase affordable health care.
According to a news release, Brown led 41 U.S. Senators in urging President Barack Obama not to submit any free trade agreements to Congress until it agrees to extend a long-term extension of TAA.
An extension of TAA was passed in September 2011 and extends the program until 2013.
