A domestic dispute has turned deadly Monday afternoon in Jefferson County after a woman pulled a gun on her husband and then left the scene.
Chief Randy Henry with the Toronto police tells 7News the incident started at 1320 Kenilworth Road. It started as a domestic dispute but quickly escalated when Martha Dear, 24, shot her husband in the back.
Dear then left her home with the weapon, leaving her two young children behind. She then headed south towards Mingo Junction. When police tried to pull her over on Carlisle Street she tragically shot herself in the chest and her car ran off the road.
Dear's husband, 25-year-old Terry Dear was flown to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh and is expected to survive his injuries. Police say he is suffering from a spinal injury and could possibly face paralyzation. The couple's young children are safe with their neighbor and babysitter until the families are able to deal with this matter.
The investigation is ongoing.
