Former Pirates Great Kicks Off W.Va. American Legion Tournament - WTRF 7 News Sports Weather - Wheeling Steubenville

A dinner this evening kicked off The West Virginia American Legion State Baseball Championship Tournament at Oglebay on Tuesday evening.

WTRF.com's own Mike Anthony emceed the banquet. The tournament is in Wheeling for the first time in 24 years.

Games start Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the I-470 complex. Six teams from across the state gathered to hear advice from former Pittsburgh Pirates' pitcher Kent Tekulve.

The Pirates great headed back to Pittsburgh after the banquet to broadcast the post game show on Root Sports following the Pirates-Cubs game.
