The Yorkville Steel Plant is now owned by Jim Bouchard of Esmark Steel. Bouchard said 230 jobs have been saved.
In 2007 Esmark owned all of the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel plants before selling them to Severstal.
Bouchard told WTRF.com his plan is to restart Yorkville, get everybody back to work and increase production from 10,000 tons to 25,000 tons of commercial steel.
His company bid $4.7 million in an auction for the Yorkville plant.
''Our plan is to bring the Yorkville Plant back to life. Right now we're planning on calling back between 210-230 workers and we continue talks with the U.S.W.,'' said Bouchard. "Yorkville will continue to provide product to Ohio Coatings. There is no date for restarting the plant at this point. Raw materials will be needed to get the plant started.''
