WTRF.com Update: New Information on Wheeling Island Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Residents living on Kentucky street were fast asleep when the gunshots rang out just before midnight on Monday.

WTRF.com is now learning a total of 4 houses were hit.

One man stepped outside to see what remained of his glass door, scattered across his porch.

Detective Gregg McKenzie of the Wheeling Police Department says they have six or seven people of interest and at this time and their goal is narrow that list down.

"We've received valuable information from folks living in the area. At this time we're following up on everything they told us," McKenzie added.

Investigators also found several shell casings at this scene.

"We don't think anyone on this street was a specific target," said McKenzie.

Some of those living on Kentucky Street told WTRF.com they were concerned after hearing gang members from Steubenville may be involved and were now setting up shop on parts of the Island.

Detective McKenzie confirmed that is not the case, and in fact officers have no reports of any gang involvement so far.
