Communities across the nation are celebrating Tuesday for an excellent cause. "National Night Out" events held all over America are meant to heighten crime and drug prevention among our country's youth.
Locally, the event turned out to be a success at Wheeling Park. Organizers planned lots of free food, entertainment, and safety activities as part of National Night Out.
The fire and police departments were on hand for families to interact with. They also had safety demonstrations and displays.
Community organizations set up tables to pass out important safety information.
A great turnout was expected Tuesday. Organizers say they had enough food for 800 people. They also had great prizes, with more than 25 bicycles of all sizes to give away.
The event wrapped up around eight Tuesday evening and was a great success.
