With the start of the school year approaching fast, it's time to start thinking about getting your children vaccinated.
If your son or daughter is going into the sixth grade, he/she is required to have the meningitis vaccine, along with a tetanus and pertussis booster shot. High school seniors are required to have a meningitis booster shot.
Dr. Mary Hammond of Wheeling Hospital Center for Pediatrics encourages parents to get their children vaccinated as soon as possible because schools are becoming more strict with their vaccine requirement deadlines.
Dr. Hammond also reminds parents there is nothing to worry about when getting their children vaccinated, as nothing but good can come from preventing unnecessary illness.
