Ohio Valley Workers Plan Protest Over Lack of Natural Gas Jobs

Posted: Updated:

On Thursday union workers from Steubenville and Canton will join forces to show their displeasure with what they call, the lack of local workers in the booming natural gas industry.

According to union leaders from LIUNA Union #809 and #1015, workers plan a "job action" to educate the public on how shale gas construction work continues to go to companies and workers not from Ohio.

LIUNA or the Laborers' International Union of North America, will rally at Sunland Construction's 3.5 mile 8" inch pipeline project just outside of Carrollton near Chesapeake's Shaw 20-14-5 5H well site.

The well-site is owned by Chesapeake Energy.

The protest is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday.
