Belmont County Commissioner Matt Coffland entered a not guilty plea to assault on a peace officer, a fourth-degree felony.
Coffland went before Judge Jennifer Sargus Thursday morning.
His next pre-trial hearing is September 17. His trial is set for Nov. 7 at 9 a.m.
Coffland is facing other charges that stem from a state visit to his business, the Tiger Pub in Shadyside.
Coffland is free on bond.

A local county commissioner is expected to be arraigned Thursday morning.
Belmont County Commissioner Matt Coffland has been indicted on one count of assault against a peace officer at Jamboree in the Hills. The assault is considered a fourth-degree felony.
Coffland remains free on bond and is also facing separate charges that reportedly stem from alleged behavior during an investigation of his business, The Tiger Pub in Shadyside.
