Area residents will have a great opportunity to get some exercise and donate to a great cause at the same time Sunday.
The Joel Kocher Hope Walk will take place this Sunday, Aug. 12. Money raised from the walk will assist Kocher, who is currently undergoing a form of aggressive cancer treatment.
Kocher is a 1988 graduate of Bridgeport High School and served several years in the U.S. Army. He is a Gulf War Combat Veteran and the father of two young children. Kocher was diagnosed with stage four Pancreatic Cancer earlier this year.
"Just trying to get some people together to support Joel and the cause and raise money to help with the cost of the treatment," said event coordinator Jodie Munson. "It is an alternative treatment and it is not covered by insurance."
The walk will begin at 11 a.m. with registration starting at 10 a.m. There is a $25 registration fee for adults, while children under 12 can walk for free. Refreshments will be served and prizes will be given away after the walk. For more information, visit www.joelkocherhope.com.
