FAIRPOINT, Ohio -

A devastating fire has claimed the home of a Fairpoint, Ohio family.

Luckily nobody was hurt, but the family escaped with just the clothes on their backs. Megan Funkhouser tells WTRF.com she was cooking lunch on Saturday when the stove went up in flames. She says she tried to extinguish the fire but took her two children and fled the house.

The Cumberland trail, Maynard, and Barton Fire departments all responded. The red cross is currently trying to help the family. They are looking for room in a hotel until more permanent arrangements can be made.

Funkhouser says she had just gone back-to-school shopping for her kindergartner and second grader, but now everything is gone.

Those wanting to assist the family can do so by donating clothes, shoesor school supplies and dropping them off at 49084 Little McMahon Creek St. Clairsville, Ohio. Funkhouser's children are set to head back to St. Clairsville schools this week.
