
Ohio County school officials had a busy and exciting day Monday as they prepare to enter the 2012-2013 school year.
They are also entering this new school year with a new superintendent.
Monday morning, recently appointed Superintendent Diana Vargo welcomed back the school system's professional and service staff during opening celebration at the JB Chamber's Performing Arts Center.
Monday evening during a regular meeting of the Ohio County Board of Education, Vargo spoke about her excitement and goals for the upcoming year.
Vargo said their mutual goal is to inspire the students to dream and achieve. During the morning program they were able to include students as well as the teacher and service personnel of the year.
Vargo said they are looking forward to a great year.
Also at Monday evening's meeting members of the Wheeling Police Department, including Chief Schewertfeger, who were presented with awards and thanked for their continued support with being Prevention Resource Officers.
Classes for some of Ohio County students start Thursday, Aug 16th.
The remainder of students will start Monday, Aug 20th.
