The Bethlehem Apostolic Temple in North Wheeling is holding its 22nd annual Adopt a Student program this weekend.
With help from the community, the temple provides backpacks and school supplies to students in need from around the area. For just $35 patrons can adopt a student and help them head back to school with a good attitude.
Darrell Cummings of the temple says they are simply doing their part.
"We are doing our part to try to help them have a great school year, we believe that attitude determines their altitude," said Cummings. "If they go back with a bad attitude, they're probably going to accomplish less. If they go back with a better attitude, they will accomplish more, and they'll know that others are excited about it."
The Back to School Festival will kick off on 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Free tickets will be provided to students to enjoy inflatable's, rides and other activities. Last year, the Adopt a Student program helped 500 children.
