Wheeling Police are reporting a significant rise in the amount of red light and stop sign violations, happening at intersections where children may be at play.
Police ran a "Target Red" campaign over the last two weeks to try and enforce violations. They focused on a few key areas and problem intersections, one on Wheeling Island and other busy intersections near where kids often play.
Officers have written 181 violations this year so far. Last year, only 82 violations were reported.
