3 Injured in Gas Well Explosion in Harrison County, West Virginia

Three people were injured in a gas well explosion shortly after 4 a.m. on Shaw's Run Road in Harrison County, W. Va.
Two were said to be flown to the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh with burns to their chest, face and arms.

Route 50 was temporarily shut down, in order for helicopters to have a place to land. Roads have since been reopened.

The cause of the explosion is still being investigated. The explosion turned into a working gas well fire, but, it, too has been extinguished.

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protections Office of Oil and Gas confirmed the incident occurred at a well site operated by Hall Drilling for Antero Resources.

Crews responded to a gas well explosion on Shaw's Run Road in Harrison County, W.Va. shortly after 4 o'clock Friday morning.

Three workers were said to be injured. Two of them were flown out by Healthnet.

Route 50 was temporarily shut down, but has since reopened.
