Troopers from the St. Clairsville Post of the Ohio State Highway patrol are investigating a crash that happened early Saturday morning in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70.
At approximately 5:42 a.m. the driver of the tractor trailer struck the median at milepost 216 and continued to ride on top of the concrete median wall until the vehicle came to a stop.
The truck's fuel tank came off, and the diesel fuel caught fire on the surface of the roadway. The truck itself did not catch fire.
The driver who is not being identified was taken to the Ohio Valley Medical Center by the Cumberland Trail Fire Department.
The EPA was contacted about the diesel spill. The crash remains under investigation.
As of 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon, both lanes of I-70W were re-opened.
