As the high school football season is set to begin, work on the press box at Magnolia High School has hit a snag.
The old press box was destroyed by a storm in late June. Click here for that story.
Work started to put in a new one late last week. Click here for the story on the groundbreaking of the new press box.
The new press box probably won't be ready for Friday night's game between River and Fort Frye.
River is using Alumni Field this year due to construction in Hannibal, and Wetzel County superintendent Diane Watt says they're working as quickly as they can.
"We're keeping it in perspective," said Watt. "We'll do it as rapidly as we can. We want it in the best conditions for our athletes, but obviously there have been some unforeseen things, but we just keep working through them. Everyone has a great attitude about it and we feel that the end result is going to be wonderful."
Watt is hopeful that the new press box will be ready for Magnolia's home-opener in two weeks against Williamstown.
The Blue Eagles play at Wheeling Island Stadium Saturday night in the season-opener against Linsly.
