Ohio Veterans may soon be able to take advantage of a new law that will give them more educational and vocational training opportunities for Ohio's veterans.
State Senator Lou Gentile D-Steubenville introduced new legislation Monday that would expand opportunities for Ohio's veterans.
According to a press release, the Ohio Veterans Opportunity Act reemphasizes support for student veterans by establishing a system to award academic credit for veterans who have taken coursework or received specialized training in the armed forces.
''It is my intention that this legislation will make every public higher education institution more accommodating to our state's returning veterans and their families,'' said Gentile.
The Ohio Veterans Act develops a model for training counselors and advisors to ensure veterans needs are being met.
