Aaron Hartley, 21, of Wellsburg, pleaded guilty today to two counts of robbery, felonies of the first degree. He was previously indicted on five counts; two counts of robbery, one felony offense of burglary, one count of assault during commission of a felony and one count of malicious assault.
Hartley met today before Judge Wilson and prosecution led by Joe Barki III.
The incident happened in May 2, 2011, however it took investigators six months to find a suspect. At that point he was arrested. In May, officials say Hartley assaulted and robbed an elderly couple. The couple, both in their 80's, were assaulted with a firearm.
A neighbor saw Hartley fleeing from the home and throw his sweatshirt on the ground. That neighbor identified Hartley with a picture. Investigators also matched DNA from the scene with Hartley's.
Hartley is currently under house arrest. Both victims do not want to see Hartley out of jail while they're alive.
His sentencing hearing will be on Nov. 9 at noon.
