Tragedy hits Wheeling Park High School, after the sudden death of a student over the weekend.
The sophomore was discovered dead in his back yard in Clearview Sunday morning.
His body was sent away for an autopsy, and officials say the cause of death is still unknown.
School officials were ready to deal with this, as the students arrived.
"It is a sad day for the families at Wheeling Park High School," said Amy Minch, principal. "Beginning Sunday, the Ohio County Crisis Intervention Team began meeting and discussing and forming plans for how we were going to approach this. We met with the staff Monday morning before the students arrived, and during first period, we just took the time to work with our students, inform them what was going on and be there for them. And the crisis intervention team is here throughout the week to support the staff and the students in their time of need."
Minch says grief counselors are on hand, and will continue to be.
"We have counselors in the media center," she said. "And that's also the place for kids to go to be together because at this time they need each other and the support of their peers."
There are still more questions than answers about the sudden death of this 16-year-old boy.
But they are confronting the situation and offering help and support to the students.
