Donald Palmer's last words before execution

Posted: Updated:

Donald Palmer, 47, received lethal injection Thursday at a state prison in Lucasville, Ohio.

Palmer's time of death was 10:35 a.m.  The curtain to the execution room opened at 10:18 a.m. and Palmer shared his last words with the victims' families and witnesses.

"I've carried you for years and years in my heart," Palmer said to the victims' families.  "I know what it's like to lose a parent, sibling, and a child, I wish this could bring it back to you, I know it can't."

Palmer finalized his last words with hoping the families live good lives and that he was sorry.

"I pray that you have good lives, I'm sorry," said Palmer.  "May the Lord bless you and give you good lives. I'm sorry."

One of the witnesses questioned why Palmer was wearing a white shirt.  Another witness mentioned they wanted to see him in an orange jump suit.  One witness also noted that Palmer seemed to have gained weight from how he appeared in previous pictures.

But once the intravenous line began to run, there was silence in the room.
