WHEELING -
A Wheeling man is behind bars, and a Moundsville man is recovering in the hospital after a stabbing Thursday morning in Wheeling.
It happened in an apartment on the 3700 block of Eoff Street just before 3 a.m. David Doolin, 24, entered the apartment of his estranged wife, where she lives with her boyfriend, Clayton Smith.
Doolin told police he was there to pick up diapers and clothes for their baby, but that was just one of the stories police were given. The visit turned violent when 21-year-old Smith stabbed Doolin in the left side below his ribs.
Doolin was transported to Ohio Valley Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.
Smith was taken to the Northern regional jail and charged with malicious wounding. Authorities are still investigating.
