Wheeling Police say the accident reconstruction team is still investigating the reconstruction scene of the accident.
Investigators are trying to determine if the accident was caused by faulty steering in the vehicle, as Christopher Birch told authorities.
ORIGINAL STORY
One person is dead after a two vehicle accident Friday in Wheeling.
Police responded at about 10 a.m. to River Road, just north of Geno's. When officers arrived they discovered two vehicles in the south bound lane, which had collided head on.
According to authorities Christopher Birch, of Wheeling, was headed north bound when his vehicle's steering locked up causing the vehicle to travel into the south bound lane.
The female driver of the south bound vehicle, a resident of Wellsburg, was transported to Wheeling Hospital where she was pronounced dead according to police.
The name of the deceased has not been released.
The accident remains under investigation.
