It's that time of year again when people should taking extra precautions to prevent from getting sick. One of those ways is getting your annual flu shot.
Tuesday was the first day at the Steubenville Health Department for the flu clinic.
Flu shots are being offered for $25. The department asks for anyone interested to bring their insurance card with them for billing purposes.
The flu clinics were first offered to city employees as well as first responders and public school teachers.
"Now is the time, September is the time you can start getting your flu shot. It takes about two weeks for your body to build up the antibodies to protect you from the flu. So now is the time that one could think about getting the shot,"
Aside from getting a flu shot, other ways to prevent getting ill is hand washing, covering your cough, not sharing utensils and if sick, stay away from others.
Adult flu vaccine clinics will be held every Tuesday from 9-11 am and 1-3 PM until the vaccine supply is out. This is a walk-in clinic, so no appointment is necessary.
